Lucy Lawless, a New Zealand-born actress and singer, is well known in the industry. The most notable of her work are the roles she took on in various famous television and film shows like Xena Warrior Princess and Spartacus Blood and Sand. She is the most well-known and appreciated for her role she played in Xena. Lucy played the part initially intended to be played by Vanessa Angel. She was in a position to not make it to the shoot due to sickness. The show was so successful in that Lucy's portrayal of Xena was the catalyst for a spinoff to air in September, 1995. Lucy is now a renowned actor due to the popularity of the spinoff. Apart from being referred to by fans as Xena Lucy is known by the name Diane Lewis Swanson from NBC's famous sitcom Parks and Recreation where she was on the show from 2012 until 2015.
